TPS Sensor off-car

Throttle Position Sensor

Potentiometer type sensor :

T.P.S sensor is a variable resistor and as the arms on the carbon resistor move frture away from their rest point the resistanace increases in the circuit and therefore more voltage drop as it is moving away or in other words as the driver pushes the throttle there is more resistance and more voltage drop in the circuit ... and this signal goes back to the ECU and with its internal voltmeter it calculates the position of the throttle ... by looking up the maps and other input sensors it chooses the best map for emmissions and performance to apply to its accuatures
